Carmel Owls
Building and installing Great Horned Owl platforms in the Monterey Peninsula
What We Do
Carmel Owls, a volunteer organization, is dedicated to installing Great Horned Owl platforms on the Monterey Peninsula. Through identifying suitable tall trees, meeting with homeowners, building owl platforms, and installing them with our volunteer crew, we hope to encourage nesting pairs of Great Horned Owls to take up residence.
Our Goals
Carmel Owls' goals over the next year are to build and install another 12 owl platforms to encourage Great Horned Owls to nest and subsequently reduce the growing rat and vermin population in the Monterey Peninsula.
Adopt an Owl Platform
If you live in Carmel Knolls, Rancho Rio Vista, Carmel Views, Carmel Highlands, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, or Monterey and have a suitable tall tree with safe and easy access for a cherry picker, we'll build and install your platform for free. Let us know but please note that Carmel-by-the-Sea is now fully covered with owl platforms.

Krafty Rat's PSA
Today’s true story, “Rat in Your Kitchen,” is based on a Carmel Owls volunteer who discovered that a rat had eaten a chunk out of an apple in the fruit bowl on their kitchen table one night.

If 'Munchy Mouse' chews your car's wiring harness, you're basically screwed. If you have a story about your mouse, rat or owl, message us. We may turn it into a "True Story" video.

Owl Pellets
We're collecting owl pellets for local Monterey Peninsula Schools. So much better than dissecting formaldehyde frogs. If you find some pellets, let us know.
